Lavender

Hello All! Sorry for the lack of posts. I think I warned you I had trouble keeping up a blog. Anyway, today we're talking about the benefits of Lavender. The uses are endless! To keep this post short-ish, I'm quoting from a document written by Dr. Susan Lawton.

She says, "doTERRA Lavender CPTG Essential Oil smells clean and fresh and permeates the air with a delightful aroma that simultaneously stimulates and relaxes. Steam-distilling the flower tops and stalks produces colorless silky oil. It has a sweet, floral, and herbaceous scent with a balsamic, woody undertone.
The ancient Greeks and Romans celebrated Lavender for its perfume and for its cleansing properties. They lavished it upon their bodies in scented soaps and baths, had the flowers strewn on the floors so that when stepped on the fragrance was released (weddings and celebrations) in sick rooms to improve fragrance and relax the patient--some considered Lavender an aphrodisiac."

My husband, surprisingly enough, LOVES the smell of Lavender oil. It instantly relaxes him and, he says, opens his heart to communication. He uses this when he's feeling highly stressed. My favorite use for Lavender? Fevers and Burns. I put it on LO when he's feeling warm and it gradually brings his temperature down (apply every 15 min). As for burns, a couple weeks ago I burned my hand on a hot skillet. Instead of running for the faucet or an ice cube, I placed the Lavender on my burn, directly. The pain went away within moments and the redness was gone soon after. I couldn't even tell I had been burned! Lavender is among the most amazing and most basic of the oils.

Dr. Susan Lawton also notes this:

"If someone does not like the fragrance of Lavender - it may be due to an internal infection that has not been resolved - see if the person likes the smell of OnGuard or Oregano and suggest that they may apply that oil to the bottoms of their feet nightly for 3 weeks and then retest the Lavender reaction."
